Bels Palsy my recovery

Well, this is going to be a dairy into Bels Palsy. Just how it came about for me this February 2013.

At the beginning of the month I had started with a very high fever of over 101 degrees.

After having a fever for over 4 days I finally went to my doctor. After leaving and getting blood work done, I went grocery shopping during my time at the grocery store. I noticed that there was a tingling sensation on the left side of my face, I was worried as I thought it might be an allergic reaction to medication I was prescribed.  My shopping trip  lasted for over an hour and on my way home. I notice severe swelling on the left side of my face. I return home and called the original doctor who prescribe to me, the new antibiotics for my cystic acne.

We decided at that time it would be best for me to stop taking the medication and to start taking Benadryl because we had thought it might be an adverse reaction.

February 5
Day 1
Went to doctor,  I have a super high fever since Jan 30, 2013. Did blood work, was perscripted stronger pain reliver - aleve to help with muscle pain, my head aches are getting worse. My headache, which turned into another migraine. At doctors office was given two shots one for migraine and the other for nausea.

After leaving office I noted a tingly sensation on my leftside. I felt like it was swelling.  I thought imight be allergic to my new medication,  for cystic acne as it has penicillin in it and I can be very scentative towards cert drugs.

February 6
Day 2
The swelling seems to be worse in this morning,  my head is itchy, and the feeling of allergic reaction seems to be progressing.  I noticed right eye is watery and having problems closing it. Tightness in my neck and right side of my face is painful. Called and made an appointment with doctors office. Stated to them I believe I am having an allergic reaction to new antibiotics.  Could I please come in and get a shot. On the way to doctor's office, the sensation of swelling was persistent,  tongue felt very heavy, and thick, throat very tight,my right eye was giving me a lot of problems. My fever had lowered to 99 at this point.

The pressure or tighten on my forehead was strong this morning. Took migraine tablets relpax 40mg to help.
Doctor office provided a  benadryl shot, and perscribed a steroid methyprednisolone 4mg to take for 5 days.

By late evening I was unable to close my eye without help. The tightness in my right side neck was horrible. I am getting a buzz sound in my eas. This is not a new smythom for me as I suffer for this so nearly my whole life.

February 7
Day 3

No improvement on swelling on left side, strange when I look in the mirror.  I am unable to pucker lips, open my mouth properly and my right eye is watery, seem to be having problems closing it. Continue with benadryl.
My tongue is thick and numb. My headache and the pressure sensation is brutal. I feel heavy and very sore to neck, tongue.

The ringing in my ears is a stated to last longer then the usual one hour.

It was clearly at that point no longer reaction

Got eye patch and cotton for closing my eye and to give some relief. For right eye.

Day 4

Stopped taking benadryl,  as it seems not be doing anything but making me sleepy.  Called doctors office, told them I had no facial movement on right side, that it appears to be droopy,  requested to have the doctor see if it might be Bels Palsy or a stoke.

Speach is very challenging, eating awful. I am chewing the inside of my right cheek and not feeling it, food gets stuck in cheek. My eye is so sore and red.

After visit it was confirmed as Bels Palsy, unable to make any facial movement on right side, my smile is a grimace, and my eyebrow on rightside has dropped and one inch. The ringing in my ears has been constant. Its uncomfortable to eat, talk. My migraine is very strong. Built up pressure. My eye is watery and red. The swelling sensation seems to have slowed down. But not stopped.

Perscribed new prednisone 25 mg to rake twice a day. Started that night. Stopped taking methyprednisolne. Recieved  migraine shot and one for nausea.

Was to continue with eye patch and get artificial tears to put in my eye.

February 9
Day 5

The tingly feeling has stopped,  and swelling as well. Is a parent looking at my face that my right side has dropped talking is very challenging and I get exhausted easily.

February 10
Day 6

The status is the same on the right side of my face the pulling sensation towards my left side is very strong it feels like I have a weight on right side.

February 11
Day 7
I can feel my right side, no longer numb. Tongue feels odd still, like its pulling to the left, and like I've had a scalled tongue on leftside. No improvement on right side, abit of puffy ness and under my right eye it very tender from tapping it shut a t night. Must  find a better solution. Will be looking at contacting an eye doctor to insure that I'm taking proper precautions. For the health of my eye.

Day 8
Yesterday was a rough day, spent a lot of time on the phone with health insurance,  then trying to set up appointments to ensure I was covered. Close to three solid hour of talking.  Jaw hurts and swelling increased.
No improvement on my eye, nor on the right side for my mouth. Tongue still feels like its burnt on leftside, maybe i am chewing on it while i eat? Most distressing. Ringing in ears is driving me nutty, I was told I was shouting a lot. I am unable to hear very well in right.

Off to optometrists today to ensure I am taking proper care of my right eye. To getting bigger eye glasses to fulky cover I which I do not have. I wear funky eyeglasses normally, this is for distance,  wear them fulltime since I was 16.

Trying to get a neurologist appointment,  as my headaches as bad, neck and jaw is horrible.

Side note; I wad in a very bad ski accident, I used to downhill race professionally. I high a tree going roughly 80mph. Smashed my right side of body into tree, some of the symptoms I am experiencing as awfully familiar. I had a open face helmet as this was in the 80's. Crack ed right cheek bone, split lip wide open. Dislocated both hips and shoulders. Recovery was fairly fast as I was about 19 or so when it happened.
